LSI’s New RIEGL LMS-Q780 Integrated into Fifth Generation MATRIX Aerial LiDAR Mapping System

June 12, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta – LiDAR Services International (LSI) is proud to announce the integration of the new RIEGL LMS-Q780 into IMG_0195their fifth generation proprietary MATRIX Aerial LiDAR Mapping System. The new RIEGL LMS-Q780 is a versatile high altitude airborne LIDAR sensor delivering unrivaled efficiency at low operating costs for all projects from corridor to wide-area mapping. It’s capable of providing up to 10 simultaneous pulses in the air, delivering perfectly, straight parallel and high resolution scan lines providing the highest-quality LIDAR data.

All of LSI’s LiDAR systems have been designed and assembled in LSI’s facility in Calgary, Alberta. LSI engineers have integrated state of the art scanning lasers such as the RIEGL LMS-Q780 with inertial measurement units (IMU), GPS receivers, high resolution downward and forward looking digital cameras, oblique view digital video camera, custom built rack mounted computer systems, and advanced data logging devices into the MATRIX LiDAR system.

For the past 12 years, LiDAR Services have performed engineering level LiDAR surveys across the globe from the high-Arctic to the jungles of Borneo utilizing the latest LiDAR technology to create very accurate 3D point clouds from which final deliverables are extracted such as contours, Digital Terrain Models (DTM), Digital Elevation Models (DEM), topographic features, planimetrics, 3D facility models, and as-built drawings in support of their clients in Engineering , Surveying, Electrical Utilities, Forestry, Mining, Oil & Gas, Transportation and Infrastructure.

LSI’s working owners have been involved with airborne laser technology since the mid 80’s and have pioneered many of the standards and procedures that are being used in the LiDAR industry today. They have an accumulated total in excess of 50 years of experience in the laser/LiDAR survey technology field, from research, design, integration, manufacturing, to the collection of LiDAR data on five continents around the world.
